Miscreants have killed a police source in the Auchpara area in Tongi of Gazipur district on Thursday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Nazir Ahmed, 32, son of Golap Mir of Ghata village in Chandpur.
Nazir and his family lived in a slum at Ershad Nagar.
“Miscreants had cut off his hands from the wrist and the body also has severe injury marks on head, face and back,” Tongi model police station Sub-Inspector Alamgir Gazi said.
“On information, police recovered the body at Auchpara Mollah Bazar around 9:30pm and sent it to Gazipur Sadar Hospital morgue for post mortem examination,” he added.
The SI said police also recovered a knife and the hands from the spot on Thursday morning.
The victim’s elder brother Kabir said: “Some young men picked Nazir up from his house on Wednesday evening.”
“Nazir had been working as a source of Tongi model police station.”
Later, Kabir filed a murder case in connection with the killing.
