L’Wren Scott, a fashion designer, model and Mick Jagger’s girlfriend, was found dead in her apartment in Manhattan, New York on March 17 morning. She was 49 years old. The police suspects Scott committed suicide, as she was hanging from a doorknob, wearing a scarf.
The famous fashion designer’s body was discovered at 10 a.m., after her assistant let herself in the apartment at the request of Scott, who had texted her to come over at 8:30 a.m.
Scott’s long-time boyfriend Jagger, who was on tour in Australia with The Rolling Stones at the time of the death, is devastated and completely shocked by her death. Questions have arisen, as no written note was found in Scott’s apartment. Jagger and Scott had dated for 13 years, significantly longer than his previous relationships.
Scott was born Luann Bambrough, and was adopted by a Mormon family in Roy, Utah. In her younger years, she enjoyed being the tallest and prettiest girl in her class, and when she was discovered by fashion photographer Bruce Weber, her career became almost surreal. Scott walked the catwalk in Paris and posed for luxury brands, including Chanel and Thierry Mugler. In the early 90s, she decided to move to California to become a fashion stylist for celebrities, allowing her to continue her glamorous life from a different angle.
In 2006, Jagger’s girlfriend launched her own fashion brand. She was proud to dress celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Sarah Jessica Parker and Reese Witherspoon, who wore her designs to several award shows.
