Tough action if death for quack doctors

Update : 18 Mar 2014, 03:59 PM

Strong actions will be taken against doctors if patients die because of wrong treatments, Health Minister Mohammad Nasim has said on Tuesday.

The government will formulate guidelines for the training and registration of village doctors, the minister said during a meeting with village doctors.

“Everyone needs to be careful so that quack doctors do not harm patients. Tough actions will be taken if any patient dies because of wrong treatment.”

The minister met representatives of two forums of village doctors at his office, a handout of the Ministry of Information said.

Nasim reminded that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman established thana level health complexes for proper treatments after independence.

He also mentioned Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s contributions on establishing community clinics to reach health services to the root-level population.

The government is working tirelessly to ensure health services for every door of Bangladesh; that is a “constitutional right,” the minister said.
