The candidates affiliated with the BNP have unofficially triumphed in eight upazilas in the third phase of upazila poll that was held on Saturday.
On the other hand, the candidates from the ruling Awami League’s tent have clinched the chairmen’s post in four upazilas so far.
The voting began at 8am and ended at 4pm in 81 upazila parishads across 41 districts without any break amid violence, capturing of polling stations and election boycott.
A total of 1,119 candidates contested in the 81 upazila parishads polls. Of them, 419 are vied for the chairman posts, 423 for the vice-chairman and 277 for the women vice-chairman posts.
Aditmari, Lalmonirhat: The chairman position in Aditmari upazila parishad election in Lalmonirhat has been won by BNP backed candidate Aiyub Ali , who took the victory over Awami Leauge rebel candidate Imrul Kayes
Bhola, Sadar: The chairman position in Sadar upazila parishad election in Bhola has been won by Awami League backed candidate Mosharrof Hossain, who took the victory over BNP backed candidate Faruk Mia
Kaliganj, Sathkhira: The chairman position in Kaliganj upazila parishad election in Satkhira has been won by Awami Leauge backed candidate Sheikh Wahiduzzaman , who took the victory over Jamat backed candidate Azizur Rahman
Kamalnagar, Lakhsmipur: The chairman position in Kamalnagar upazila parishad election in Lakhsmipur has been won by BNP backed candidate Syed Shamsul Alam , who took the victory over Awami Leauge backed candidate Nurul Amin Raju.
Babuganj, Barishal: The chairman position in Babuganj upazila parishad election in Barishal has been won by Awami League-backed candidate Khaled Hossain Swapan , who took the victory over BNP candidate Sultan Ahmed Khan.
Fulpur, Mymensingh: The chairman position in Fulpur upazila parishad election in Mymensingh has been won by BNP backed candidate Abul Bashar Akhondo , who took the victory over Awami League Backed candidate Ataul karim russell.
Dhubaura, Mymensingh: The chairman position in Dhubaura upazila parishad election in Mymensingh has been won by Awami League rebel candidate Mohammad Maznu Mia , who took the victory over Awami League backed candidate Abdul Mannan Akhondo.
Jamalgonj, Sunamgonj: The chairman position in Jamalgonj upazila parishad election in Sunamgonj has been won by BNP backed candidate Abu Jahid, who took the victory over BNP backed candidate Rezaul Karim Shamim
Dakkhin Surma, Sylhet: The chairman position in Dakkhin Surma upazila parishad election in Sylhet has been won by Awami League-backed candidate Abu Jahid, who took the victory over Jamat-backed candidate Lokman Ahmed.
Jahid got 30,583 votes while Lokman got 21,528 votes.
Fulbaria, Mymensingh: The chairman position in Fulbaria upazila parishad election in Mymensingh has been won by BNP-backed candidate Md Azizur Rahman, who took the victory over Awami League-backed candidate Abdul Maleq Sarker.
Aziz won a victory with 54,726 votes in his name while Sarker pulled in a total of 46,467 votes.
Delduer, Tangail: BNP-backed candidate SM Ferdous has won the chairman position in Delduer upazila parishad election in Tangail defeating his nearest Awami League-supported candidate Abul Kalam Moin.
Ferdous has bagged 42,684 votes while Moin got 24,107 votes.
Akkelpur, Joypurhat: BNP-backed candidate Kamruzzaman Kamal has won the chairman position in Akkelpur upazila parishad election in Joypurhat defeating his nearest Awami League-backed candidate Golam Murtuza Chowdhury.
Kamal has bagged 38,831 votes while Murtuza got 34,126 votes, according to unofficial results.
Kishoreganj Sadar: The chairman position in Sadar upazila parishad election in Kishoreganj has been won by BNP-backed candidate Shariful Islam, who took the victory over Awami League- backed candidate Syed Ashfakul Islam.
Shariful won a landslide victory with 61794 votes in his name while Ashfakul pulled in a total of 47978 votes, according to unofficial results.
Dhanbari, Tangail: Mir Ahmed Farid, a candidate backed by ruling Awami League, has been voted into the chairman position in the Nagarpur upazila parishad election in Tangail. He has ascended to the position with a total of 31,445 votes, while his opponent, Bnp-backed candidate Habibullah Fakir has received a total of 24,648 votes.
