BNP-backed candidate Kamruzzaman Kamal has won the chairman position in Akkelpur upazila parishad election in Joypurhat defeating his nearest Awami League-backed candidate Golam Murtuza Chowdhury.
Kamal has bagged 38,831 votes while Murtuza got 34,126 votes.
