Election Commissioner Mohammad Shah Newaz has said the ongoing poll violence is an isolated event as only nine polling centres have been suspended due to poll violence.
The election commissioner made the statement in a press conference at the commission on Saturday afternoon.
He said: “We are using law enforcers to avoid all kinds of violence. However, the incidents of violence are isolated events.”
The commissioner also claimed that vote casting is going peacefully in all centres.
“Our aim is to make the election free and fair. We are taking cognisance of all the complaints and taking necessary steps against it,” he said.
