The second largest congregation of Bauls in remembrance of the legendary folk singer Fakir Lalon Shah begins today in Sreepur upazila, Gazipur.
Gazipur Additional Police Super Sanjit Kumar Roy has inagurated the festival on Friday afternoon. Afzal Hossain Kayser, former chairman of Gazipur sadar upazila, was the special guest of the ceremony.
Lalon-lovers from all over the world have already begun to gather at the three-day-long festival at Lohagachia Sadhur Bazar for the congregation.
The festival and a fair on the remembrance of Lalon Shah will continue until March 16, the festival’s Coordinator Mohammad Mahfuzul Haque said.
“The fair has been organised by the founder of Sadhur Bazar, Fakir Khalek Shah. A fair has also been organised for this occasion,” he said.
The festival will feature popular folk singer of Bangladesh Farida Parvin, India’s Shankar Goshwami, Ringku and other famed singers.
Organisers said to have made hospitality arrangements for all visitors and Lalon admirers. This is known as the second largest Lalon festival in Bangladesh.
