Two missing youths rescued from Khulna

The two missing HSC examinees from Gournadi of Barisal succeeded to flee from the car of the abductors and were recovered from Khulna  early yesterday.

Ahsanullah Kabir, sub-inspector of Gournadi police station of Barisal and investigating officer of the case, confirming the report said the two victims claimed that they had jumped off from the vehicles of the abductors yesterday morning and took shelter at Daulatpur police station with minor injuries due to jumping.

A police team had already arrived in Khulna to collect the recovered victims named Kazi Shahriar Anik and Sohag Khan, from Mahisha village under Sharikal union of Gournadi upazila and HSC examinees of Agorpur College respectively.

They would be interrogated about the incident and drives to arrest the alleged abductors would also be continued, the IO told.

Abul Kalam, officer-in-charge of Gournadi police station, said Aktaruzzaman, father of Anik lodged a case of kidnapping on Wednesday afternoon.

Earlier, Both of the victims went on a stroll on Tuesday evening and  became missing. Anik’s mother claimed to received a cell phone call from her son around 2:20am early Wednesday. Before switching off the phone, Anik hurriedly informed her that unidentified people riding on a pickup at Sakokati rickshaw stand asked them to show the way to Sharikal and immediately after that they became senseless, told the plaintiff of the case.

Later police traced the location of the cell phone in Khulna region using mobile phone tracking technology, the IO told.
