51 pseudo-freedom fighters get allowance in Magura

Some 51 pseudo-freedom fighters draw their monthly allowance after having their names registered on the district freedom fighters’ list, a press release has revealed on Wednesday.

Freedom fighter Md Abdul Hye Chowdhury of village Fulbari under Magura Sadar upazilla made the revelation through the release.

Abdul Hye fought the Liberation War under sector 8. He alleged that at least 10 people including Abdur Rouf Mollah, Abdur Razzak and Tofazzel Biswas in village Fulbari under Magura Sadar upazila and at least 20 including Khashru Zoarder, Golam Moula and Ria Molla in village Hazipur under the same upazila posed as freedom fighters and were getting honorarium.

Under the upazila, at least 10 such freedom fighters including Razab Ali, Golam Mustafa and Abul Kashem in the village of Sreemantapur are reaping the monetary benefit.

Allegation had it that at least seven freedom fighters including Syed Ali Fakir and Moinuddin in the village of Bagura in the upazila were also the beneficiaries of freedom fighters’ allowance.

Abdul Hye called for a careful scrutiny of the list to register real freedom fighters dropping out the pseudo-ones from the roll.

Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Magura district unit Commander Mollah Nobuat Hosain admitted the fact.
