The second largest congregation of Bauls in remembrance of the legendary folk singer Fakir Lalon Shah will begin in Sreepur upazila, Gazipur from Friday.
Lalon-lovers from all over the world have already begun to gather at the three-day-long festival at Lohagachia Sadhur Bazar for the congregation.
The festival and a fair on the remembrance of Lalon Shah will begin from March 14 and will continue until March 16, the festival’s Coordinator Mohammad Mahfuzul Haque said.
“The fair has been organised by the founder of Sadhur Bazar, Fakir Khalek Shah. A fair has also been organised for this occasion,” he said.
The festival is expected to be inaugurated by Gazipur 3 constituency member of parliament Alhaz Rahmat Ali.
Gazipur police Superintendent Abdul Baten, additional Deputy Commissioner Shahnewaz Dilruba Khan and other prominent individuals are expected to be present at the inaugural.
The festival will feature popular folk singer of Bangladesh Farida Parvin, India’s Shankar Goshwami, Ringku and other famed singers.
Organisers said to have made hospitality arrangements for all visitors and Lalon admirers. This is known as the second largest Lalon festival in Bangladesh.
