PM: Pay more attention to check smuggling

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the law enforcer agencies to give more attention to check smuggling of arms and drugs.

The PM has also stressed importance to build up a strong cooperation among the countries of this region on this issue.

Hasina said this in a meeting with the officials of Home Ministry on Thursday morning.

She said the active role of home ministry is very crucial to maintain law and order, a prerequisite for any government to run the country smoothly and efficiently.

Negligence would not be tolerated, she also uttered warning.

Expressing government's firm stance against terrorism and militancy in any form, smuggling and unruly activities, PM said the government has dealt all these situation with strict hand, helping restoration of law and order during the government's immediate past tenure.

Bangladesh is a country prone to natural disasters, hampering our development. "The activities of some people sometimes become devastating for the country. But we have to proceed keeping our strong determination and go ahead for country's progress," she said.
