A 10-day Bangladesh Francophonie Week 2014 is going to be celebrated in order to revel in the French language and to exchange cultural values between Bangladesh and francophone community.

The announcement of the Francophonie festival came from a joint press conference held at Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) in Dhanmondi on Tuesday.

Seven Francophone countries (France, Canada, Egypt, Morocco, Qatar, Switzerland and Vietnam) AFD & Alliance Française de Chittagong (AFC) have been organizing weeklong events in Dhaka and Chittagong.

Mahomud Ezzat, Egypt Ambassador to Bangladesh said: “Celebrating the week in Bangladesh has a special meaning, as Bangladesh is a country much like Egypt, and it is very proud of its own identity, language, culture and history.”

Michel Trinquier, French Ambassador to Bangladesh said that thousands of Bangladeshi students came to AFD and AFC to discover new language and culture. The week is for Bangladeshi nationals and everyone else interested in joining the growing community.
