The picnic bus that plunged into a roadside ditch and killed eight primary school students in Jessore was unfit, what officials have told the media on Monday.
The bus did not have fitness certificate of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), a probe report filed by a committee for the incident said.
Three bodies of the district administration, police and of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) were formed over the incident.
On Monday, the district administration's probe committee led by Jessore Additional District Magistrate Sabina Yeasmin submitted their report.
Jessore Deputy Commissioner Mostafizur Rahman told the media that he did not get the scope to read the report and refrained from commenting further.
BRTA Assistant Director Ashraqur Rahman told the media that the fitness of the vehicle expired on September 25, 2013. “The vehicle was unfit for plying.”
On February 16, a picnic bus veered off the road and killed eight primary school students at Benapole area, Jessore. Later, the injured succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
The incident left a trail of tragedy in the country.
