‘Gravity’ leads the Oscars for 2014

Alfonso Cuaron-directed science fiction thriller “Gravity” led the Oscars with seven awards in various categories at the 86th Academy Awards on Monday.

The film starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney outstood in the technical aspects categories for the film’s cutting edge visualisation of space.

The movie also emerged the best of 2014 in best cinematography, directing, film editing, music, sound editing, sound mixing and visual effects.

Low-budget film “Dallas Buyers Club” took home three Oscars for the best actor in a leading role, best male supporting role and best make-up and hair style.

Academy Award winning best picture of 2014 “12 Years A Slave” also bagged Oscars for the best female supporting role and writing in an adapted screenplay.

Other movies that took home single Oscars include “20 Feet from Stardom,” “The Lady in Number 6: Music Saved My Life,” “The Great Beauty,” “Mr Hublot,” “Helium,” and “Her.”
