Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman and two others have been sued for defamation.
Engineer MA Rashid, director of South Point School and College, has filed the case against the defendants with Dhaka 4 Joint District Judge Mohammad Abu Taher’s Court on Monday morning seeking Tk200 crore as compensation.
The other accused are Prothom Alo’s Chief News Editor and its Comilla Correspondent.
Plaintiff’s lawyer Md Moniruzzaman Hawlader has confirmed the Dhaka Tribune about the case.
He said: “The court has also fixed March 10 for the admission hearing of the case.”
In the case statement, Rashid has alleged that four news and editorials regarding railway and government-owned land and South Point School and College were published in Prothom Alo.
According to the statement, these news and editorials had defamed the educational and business organisation run by Rashid.
