Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General Major General Aziz Ahmed has said both Bangladesh and India need motivation to bring the border killing to zero level.

He made the statement at a press conference held at the BGB headquarter in capital on Sunday afternoon.

He said: “The mindset of BSF, BGB and the people living in the border areas have to be changed in order to bring the border killing to zero level.”

Major Aziz said: “We have not yet got the desired cooperation from India regarding this.”

Talking about cooperation from Myanmar and India regarding smuggling, he said: “There is a huge communication gap with Myanmar and we are trying to decrease it but we have not gotten any hopeful response from there end.”

Answering a query about BDR mutiny, Major Aziz said: “Discipline is the main factor here and strong law is a must to avoid such incidents. The law has been reformed in this regard.”

“I personally feel the change was good,” he said while answering a query about the change of judge in explosion case of BDR mutiny.

Regarding the review of Felani killing case, the DG said: “We have not got any official information about it yet. We will seek for its progress in the DG-level meeting between India and Bangladesh which is to be held in April.”

Terming the killing as “detestable”, he said the killing had gotten reactions not only in Bangladesh but also across the globe.
