Fishing trawler with 28 men sinks in Bay of Bengal

A fishing trawler has drowned in the Bay of Bengal with 28 people onboard on Friday.

The fishing trawler FV Salhsabil, drowned around 5:30pm, about 15 nautical miles off Cox's Bazar.

Md Mohiuddin owner of FV Salhsabil confirmed the Dhaka Tribune.

He said, “24 people have been rescued so far by an immediate rescue operation by Bangladesh Navy while one was found dead.”

The trawler might have drowned due to stormy weather in the Bay of Bengal, he said.

BNS Durjoy, a rescue ship of the Bangladesh Navy was on the rescue operation till filing this report.
