Jamaat-e-Islami bagged the chairman post of the lone upazila election in Moheshpur upazila, Jhenaidah unofficially on Thursday.
Jamaat-backed candidate Abdul Hai emerged victorious with 70,683 votes, Returning Officer and UNO Nasima Khatun said.
His nearest competitor was Awami League-sponsored aspirant Maizuddin Hamid with 52,269 votes in the second phase of the upazila poll.
