AL 2, BNP 1 in Lalmonirhat

Awami League secured two and BNP one position of chairman in the upazila election of Lalmonirhat in the second phase of upazila poll on Thursday.

Lalmonirhat district Returning Officer Abu Noor Mohammad Shamsuzzaman told the Dhaka Tribune about the outcome of the election result.

BNP-backed candidate AKM Mominul Haque emerged victor in Lalmonirhat Sadar with 77,964 votes. His nearest candidate was Jatiya Party’s AKM Mahbubul Alam Mithu with 41,721.

Awami League’s Liakot Hossain bagged Hatibandha upazila with 33,785 votes. His nearest candidate was Jamaat-e-Islami-backed Habibur Rahman with 21,900 votes.

Rulul Amin Babul, sponsored by the Awami League, secured Patgram upazila with 45,509 votes. His nearest candidate was Jamaat-backed Abu Hena Mohammad Ershad Hossain with 39,123 votes.
