Two people have been convicted by separate mobile courts for violating the rules and regulations of the upazila poll in Lalpur upazila of Natore.
The convicts are Jubair Ahmed Murad, 25, of Abdupur village and Israfil, 28, of Shob village.
A mobile court fined Jubair Tk5,000 for using the false identity of a polling agent to enter the polling centre at Abdupur Mosharraf Hossain High School with a mobile.
Magistrate Jahangir Alam fined him for giving the fake identity of an agent of BNP-backed Chairman Candidate Abdur Razzak.
Meanwhile, Israfil was sentenced to two years of imprisonment for carrying cannabis in a polling centre area.
Magistrate Shongkor Kumar Biswas sentenced him two years of imprisonment without labour for carrying 100kg of cannabis.
The court also detained two of his associates.
Lalpur upazila Assistant Returning Officer Amirul Islam confirmed about the incidents to the Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “One of them was held for giving fake identity of polling agent while the other was held for carrying cannabis in polling centre area.”
