BNP polling agents have not been seen at the polling centres in Keraniganj upazila in Dhaka district out of fear of ruling party members.
Polling agents of BNP-backed candidate Nazim Uddin were not seen at the polling centres during the second phase of upazila poll in the morning.
Chief Polling Agent Mozaded Ali quoted Babu as saying: “We had allocated adequate polling agents but now they are not seen at the centres.”
“They might have not come to the centres out of the fear of Awami League and for the fear of cases being filed against them,” he added.
Very few agents of Nazim were seen at the nine visited polling centres. None of the agents was noticed at Kadamtali Government Primary School.
Presiding officer of Kadamtali Government Primary School polling centres said: “They [Nazim’s agents] have not come to the centre yet. They might come later in the course of the day.”
Meanwhile, polling agents of Awami League backed candidate Shahin Ahmed were seen to be present at the polling centres.
However, a remarkable number of voters have been seen at polling centres in the upazila. Irrespective of the gender, both male and female voters were seen lining up at the centres before 8am.
