A police short machine gun went missing from a polling centre in Shalikha Upazila of Magura the night before the voting started on Thursday.
Three constables have been suspended following the matter, Magura Police Super Zihadul Karim told the Dhaka Tribune.
The incident took place at Shatakhali Union’s Gobra Panchpalli High School voting centre while the deployed police members were sleeping at the school on Wednesday night, he said.
“We are investigating into the matter and trying to recover the machine gun,” Zihadul said.
