Govt encourages national anthem record participation

The Ministry of Cultural Affairs has issued letters to secretaries, divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners across the country to ensure maximum participation at the national anthem record,aimed to take place on March 26 – the Bangladesh Independence Day - this year.

The letter signed by the cabinet division’s Senior Assistant Secretary Altaf Hossain Sheikh asked the officials to ensure maximum participation of locals at the performance of national anthem in their respective areas.

The government has taken an initiative to break a world record by singing the national anthem with the largest number of people performing together.

The target is to assemble more than 3 lakh people both inside and outside the capital to sing the national anthem at 11am on the Independence Day. The main programme would be held at the National Parade Squad in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

The letter said:“The cultural ministry has targeted to incorporate the name of Bangladesh in the Guinness Book of World Records by singing the national anthem together.”
