Update : 25 Feb 2014, 03:54 PM

Recruiting agencies should follow the government rules on expenses in sending labours to abroad, said Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain.

The minister made the remarks while addressing a prize giving ceremony to meritorious students by BAIRA in the capital on Tuesday.

He said: “The government has fixed expenses in a minimum range for each expats who wants to move abroad. However, very few recruiting agencies are maintaining the directives.

Most expatriate workers die from stress stemming from the burden of migration cost,” he added.

Khandaker Mosharraf termed it as a key impediment in exporting workers in a large volume as Bangladesh has a very good reputation in that sector but expats spend superfluous money to move abroad and  they always stay on rush to bring earn the money .

Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) President Shahjalal Majumder, Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry Secretary Shawkat Hossain, among others, were present on the occasion.
