UP chairman among 4 shot in Jessore

Four people including a UP chairman were wounded in a gun attack by miscreants at Bahadurpur under Sharsha upazila in Jessore on Monday night.

Mosharraf Hossain, officer in-charge, Benapole port police station confirmed the incident.

The wounded are identified as Kamal Hossain Bhuiyan, chairman of Laxmanpur union council and also general secretary of the UP unit AL, Ashanur Rahman, an activist of Juba League and pedestrians Shahadat Hossain and Shahidul Islam.

Locals said the AL men came under gun attack while they were returning to their homes after election campaign at Bahadurpur under the upazila around 11pm. The miscreants fired three rounds of gun shots and hurled 5-7 crude bombs.

Mosharraf Hossain, officer in-charge, Benapole port police station confirming the information told journalists that the wounded were rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital.
