Fakhrul: JMB crossfire to hide truth

Update : 24 Feb 2014, 09:15 AM

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakrul Islam Alamgir has said the crossfire of a convict following the snatching incident was intended to hide the truth behind the story.

He told journalists after placing wreath on the grave of Ziaur Rahman on Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, he termed the crossfire as “mysterious,” and at the same time an “extreme failure of the government.”

Fakhrul also expressed “grave concern” over the incident as the convicts were being carried with “inadequate security arrangement.”

He said:  “What had happened, that the recaptured had to be killed in crossfire after the arrest.”

He added that the crossfire has raised questions in the minds of the people.

Earlier in the day, Rakib Hasan, the recaptured death row militant of the banned Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladeh (JMB), has died in a “gunfight” at Mirzapur upazila in Tangail.
