The Jessore Kotwali police have recovered five live hand bombs from the prison guard barracks of the district’s Central Jail on Saturday.
Rabiul Islam, assistant sub-inspector of Jessore Kotwali police station, said the prison guards of the barrack noticed the hand bombs lying abandoned near the toilet and informed the police.
Later, policemen recovered the bombs around 11am, he added.
Fazlur Rahman, deputy inspector general of the Jessore police, said the security of the prison guard barrack has been beefed up after the recovery of the bombs.
Mentioning that the bombs were recovered from a secured place, he also stated no outsider could keep them inside the barrack.
Emdadul Haque Sheikh, officer in-charge of Kotwali police station said a general diary has been lodged with the police station in this connection and security of the barrack has been tightened after the recovery of the bombs.
