The Gonojagoron Moncho that came into being one year ago launched its first publication yesterday at a programme marking the International Mother Language day at Shahbagh Projonmo Chattar.
Educationists, journalists and prominent personalities took part in the book unveiling programme titled “Shahbag Ganajagaran O Etihasher Dai” in the afternoon.
Moncho Convener Imran H Sarkar edited the book which also incorporated articles and write-ups of at least 25 prominent personalities, including Dr Ajay Ray, Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Syed Shamsul Haque, Dr Kaberi Gayen and Julfikar Ali Manik.
In his address, Imran said: “With a view to spreading our campaign spirit among the masses and make them aware of the country’s enemy, we have published the book.”
Zafar Iqbal said: “The youth of our country forgot the country’s history of Liberation War and Language Movement, but they raised their voice again in 2013 through forming the Gonojagoron Moncho.”
Prominent journalist Abed Khan said the Moncho taught how to retain the spirit of Liberation War, protect the prestige of the country and save it from evil forces.
He urged Moncho activists and people to continue movement until realising their demands, including eradication of anti-liberation forces, capital punishment to all war criminals and ban on Jamaat-Shibir politics.
In his address, Syed Shamsul Haque thanked and praised the youth who played their vital role in the Language Movement, 69th mass uprising, Liberation War in 1971 and Ganajagaran movement in 2013.
