The committee announced a route plan to keep the celebrations in order on the day, so as everyone can pay their respects to the martyrs in an organised manner. According to the route plan, all attendees will go to the Shaheed Minar from DU’s Jagannath Hall and queue to place wreaths.
Nobody will be allowed to attend the Doyel Chattar bearing festoons, placards, or floral wreaths.
The announcement also specified that people would have to reach Azimpur graveyard via Nilkhet, and access Shaheed Minar from Azimpur graveyard via SM hall road. After paying their respects, people have to leave Shaheed Minar premise through Doyel Chattar.
Meanwhile, DU Vice Chancellor Professor Arefin Siddique urged all the university’s students and officials to create an atmosphere where masses of people will be able to pay homage to the country’s greatest, who sacrificed their lives in 1952 for their mother tongue.
He also urged the students, senate members, teachers, and officials to join the silent procession to pay their respects to the language movement martyrs. The procession will begin around 6:30am from Aparajeyo Bangla and will march towards Azimpur graveyard and on to the Shaheed Minar, paying tribute to the nation’s heros.
