The upazila unit of BNP has boycotted the election and called a dawn-to-dusk hartal for Thursday in Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah.
Thana Committee Secretary and UP Chairman Candidate Rakibul Hassan Khan Dipu made the announcement to the media around 11:20am on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, votes for the upazila election were suspended until further notice in a polling station of the upazila after ballots were snatched.
