Votes for the upazila election were suspended until further notice in a polling station of Shailkupa upazila, Jhenaidah after ballot snatching on Wednesday.
Ballots were snatched in Momurapur Government Primary School, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Ali Prince said. “Votes have been suspended from 10am,” he stated.
Meanwhile, voters of three other polling stations faced obstruction to vote, according to officials.
The centres are Mawlanabad Government High School in Sadar, Kabirpur Government Primary School in Shailkupa and another school in the Raycharan area.
UNOs Mohammad Ali Prince and Zulkar Nayan confirmed the status.
Voting is underway for the first phase of upazila election throughout 97 upazilas of the country. Votes began at 8am and will continue until 4pm.
