Police recovered the body of one more accused in the killing of Awami League leader Saiful Islam in Sirajganj on Saturday morning.
The dead was identified as Jahangir Alam, 45, son of Delwar Hossain from Sadar upazila. Jahangir was the 16th accused of the AL leader murder case, police said.
Locals found the body of Jahangir in west of Bangabandhu Bridge area in the morning and informed police, Kamarkhand police station Sub Inspector Abdul Based said.
The body had two wounds on its head, the SI said. The body was sent for postmortem.
Wife of the dead, Rozina Khatun, alleged that plain-clothed policemen nabbed her husband and one other Joban Ali from Dhaka on January 19.
Later, the body of Joban Ali, the prime accused of the murder case, was found on February 5, but that of her husband remained missing.
Sadar upazila Awami League youth and sports affairs secretary Saiful Islam was hacked to death on December 30.
On January 30, Bablu, an accused in the murder case, died in “gunfight” with law enforcers.
