Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon all people concerned into taking proper initiatives towards making the public more science-minded by acquiring knowledge of science everywhere.
She called upon the people during a programme arranged by the ministry of science and technology at Osmani Memorial Hall on Thursday morning.
The prime minister said suitable technology will need to be innovated to advance our lives, reports BSS.
She said: "We can reach our desired objective if we turn our sizable manpower into human resources with the help of science and technology."
The prime minister handed over cheques to researchers and students who obtained the Bangabandhu Fellowship and the National Science and Technology (NST) Fellowship.
“As a country with an advanced economy, Bangladesh cannot be lagging behind in science and technology. I believe that the science and technology would bring revolutionary changes in the country's socio-economic state,” she said.
Emphasising on research, she said: “The government is considering easing the age bar for researchers who are engaged in specific fields of research.”
"We want to give scope to the researchers to complete their work but would only make special arrangement for those who are conducting specific research,” she added.
