Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday provided a compensation of Rs50,000 for torturing a Bangladeshi two years ago in the border area of Rajshahi.
Habibur Rahman, 50, from Shibganj upazila, Chapainawabganj, was stripped and beaten severely for crossing the the border in December 2011.
He was then left abandoned near the Bangladeshi border from where locals extracted him and rushed to a hospital.
The compensation was handed over to victim Habib in a flag meeting held between the BSF and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) around noon.
