Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu conveyed concern over the much talked-about journalist duo Sagar-Runi's murder case, seeing how no developments have been made so far on the mysterious killings in two years.
“It’s a failure and should be acknowledged as an ‘administrative failure’ and has brought such a whirlwind of feelings as the administration has utterly failed to disclose the mystery behind the killings,” Inu says.
The minister made the statement while addressing a press conference at the secretariat in the capital on Tuesday afternoon.
Assuring that the ministry along with the state ministry would take immediate initiatives, he said, “Government is concerned over the issue and we will try our best to breakdown the deadlock on the case.”
He added that he would talk to state ministry about the trail of Sagar- Runi case.
It has been two years since Maasranga Television News Editor Sagar Sarowar and ATN Bangla Senior Reporter Meherun Runi were stabbed to death at their West Rajabazar residence in the capital on February 11, 2012.
The murder outraged the nation, as law enforcers and political bigwigs turned up at the journalist couple’s West Razabazar residence, promising speedy justice.
Nothing happened within the 24 months except assurance and different versions of ultimatum to arrest the alleged one or the gang involved in the murder, several suspects have been picked up however the breakthrough is still not in view.
