Update : 11 Feb 2014, 07:13 AM

Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua has served a legal notice on the government seeking explanation as to why the general students of Rajshahi University had been shot.

Jyotirmoy Barua served the notice on behalf of a group of human rights activists and teachers, including Khushi Kabir, Rafik Ullah Khan, Manos Chowdhury and Tanjimuddin Khan.

The notice seeks an explanation to the government actions taken before and after the attack on the students of Rajshahi University.

“The notice was sent to the home secretary, inspector general of police, police commissioner of Rajshahi and the Motihar police station officer-in-charge,” said Jyotirmoy Barua.

On February 2, police and cadres of Bangladesh Chhatra League attacked students of Rajshahi University during their demonstrations. Scores of students were injured and 20 were shot.
