A Dhaka court has framed charge against a National University teacher in a defamation case filed against him for making derogatory comments about the prime minister and her family.
On August 22 last year, AKM Wahiduzzaman, a teacher in the Geography Department, allegedly made a defamatory comment on Facebook about Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy and daughter Saima Wazed Putul.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Harun-Ur-Rashid passed the order rejecting a discharge petition filed by the defence council Council Joynul Abidin Misbah on Monday afternoon.
The court framed charges against Wahiduzzaman under section 500 and 506 of the penal code.
On October 8 last year, AB Siddiqui, president of pro-Awami League organisation Bangladesh Jononetri Parishad, lodged the defamation case with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
