Two ministries were amalgamated into a single ministry of the new government, according to an order of the cabinet division on Monday afternoon.
The ministries for post and telecommunications and the ministry of information and communication technology were fused to form the ministry of post, telecommunications and information technology.
Earlier, Abdul Latif Siddique was the minister for both post and telecommunications and that of information and communication technology in the new government.
Meanwhile, Junaid Ahmed Polock was the state minister for the ministry of information and communication technology.
For the time being, Abdul Latif Siddique will be the minister and Junaid Ahmed Polock will be the junior minister for the fresh ministry, the order said.
The move was made by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina one month into the formation of a government that emerged through the elections of January 5.
