Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to attend her office at the labour and employment ministry on Sunday, her first meeting at the ministry in ten years.
The Prime Minister’s Office issued a letter informing ministry officials about the premier’s intend to attend the labour ministry office on Sunday.
Labour Secretary Mikail Shipar told to the Dhaka Tribune that they have received a letter from the PMO in this regard.
Sheikh Hasina, also the minister in-charge of the ministry, will hold a meeting with the ministry officials and concerned officials on Sunday morning.
It would be the first meeting of Sheikh Hasina at the ministry during the tenure of the present government, which took charges on January 12.
The ministerial seat for labour ministry was kept vacant and that Jatiya Party leader Mojibul Haque Chunnue was made junior minister in the new government.
Effectively, the premier kept the ministry for herself.
Ministry officials said the premier might lay out plans for speeding up implementation of the labour law, enforcing the minimum wage standards and strengthening the ministry.
