Yusuf dead from brain hemorrhage

War crimes accused AKM Yusuf died from a brain hemorrhage, Assistant Professor of DMCH Forensic Department AKM Shafiuzzaman said after the autopsy.

“No injury mark has been found on the Jamaat leader’s body,” he said.

The body of AKM Yusuf was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after directives were issued to hand over the body in accordance with prison laws.

In the autopsy report, AKM Shafiuzzaman stated that the Jamaat leader died of old aged complications, alongside brain hemorrhage due to cardiac arrest. 

Yusuf's heart and some other parts were preserved for test purposes, said the morgue sources.

The autopsy was conducted in the presence of officials from Dhaka Central Jail and Kashimpur Jail.

After the post-mortem, the body of Yusuf was handed over to his family members in the evening.

The authorities of Dhaka Central Jail handed over the body to his son Mahbubur Rahman at the morgue around 6:15pm.

Yusuf’s son Mahbubur Rahman told journalists that the decision on the burial of his father would be taken after the body was taken to their Dhanmondi residence.

The war crimes accused Jamaat leader died around 11:30am after he was admitted at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University from Kashimpur-1 Jail in Gazipur.
