Update : 08 Feb 2014, 11:57 AM

The government has taken a scheme to build multi-storied flats in every union in a bid to curb the accommodation problem of village people, said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The premier made the announcement while addressing a public rally in Rajshahi district on Saturday afternoon.

The Prime Minister stated: “The government is planning to build multi-storied flats in every union in the district in order to ease the sufferings of village people.

The people of the district suffer a lot due to floods. We are considering setting up flats for the people in the flood prone areas. No village people will be homeless.”

The premier further said: “We have already built dams on River Padma in many places and in future the government will continue its development works in the flood prone areas in the district.”

Regarding the agricultural development in the region, the PM told the reporters, “We have allotted interest-free loans to farmers and introduced the One House One Farm project in order to uphold the agricultural progress in the region.”

Mentioning that the present government is firm to uphold the educational development in the district, she further mentioned, “We will introduce the vocational education systems from class 6 and ensure that every student can complete at least school education.”

Indicating BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Hasina said, “The BNP chief does not want people to be educated. She always tries to hinder the normal educational progress of the country by calling hartals and agitation programs.

She alleged that whenever the Awami League government tried to move the country towards further progress, the BNP tried to hinder the process by conducting subversive activities in the name of movement.
