A man was killed and 25 others were injured when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch on the Bagerhat-Pirojpur Highway at Shibpur in Kachua upazila on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Ilias Uddin Sheikh,35, son of late Hashem Uddin of Fatehpur village in the upazila.
Mohammad Abu Jihad Fakhrul Alam Khan, officer-in-charge of Kachua police station, said the accident took place in the area at about 7am when a Pirojpur-bound bus from Dhaka plunged into a roadside ditch, leaving 26 passengers of the bus injured.
Of the injured, Ilias Uddin died on way to Bagerhat sadar hospital.
