Noted actor and film personality Khalil Ullah Khan has been selected for lifetime award while the government has announced the names of 24 artistes and others for the National Film Award-2012 in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the country’s film industry.
Eminent writer-director, the late Humayun Ahmed, was named as best director while best screen play went to his last film Ghetu Putro Komola. The film also bags the awards for best music director, best child artiste, best cinematographer, best editor, best art director, best makeup and best costume directior. With eight awards in total, Ghetu Putro Komola is the film that won the highest number of awards in the National Film Award 2012.
Following suit is Redwan Roni’s Chorabali, which scored five awards. Protagonist of the film Joya Ahsan won best actress, while Shahiduzzaman Selim won best villain. Noted actor ATM Shamsuzzaman won the award for best supporting actor for his role in the film Chorabali. The film also won the award for best dialogue.
Celebrated actor Joya Ahsan told the Dhaka Tribune: “I feel honoured to have won the award for the second time. It just feels wonderful, I won it for my role in Chorabali which is a commercial film.”
“Dhallywood king,” Shakib Khan got the best actor award for his outstanding performance in the film Khodar Pore Maa. This is the second time that the actor has won the National Award, he said: “Winning a National award is always very special to me, no matter how many times I win, it never loses its charm.
This is the second time I have won this award and I feel very honoured. It is an example that it does not matter whether it is an art film or commercial, a good film is always appreciated. It is also about an actor’s ability to deliver a good performance.”
Uttorer Sur, produced by Faridur Reza Sagor, is directed by Shahnewaz Kakoli, who won the award for best story writer. The film won three more awards including best film. Lucy Thripti Gomez was named best supporting actress. Uttorer Sur is the debut film of Shahnewaz Kakoli. The delighted winner told the Dhaka Tribune: “It was unexpected. This was my first film and I cannot imagine that I have won the best film award. I was glad and left inspired after winning this honour. My responsibility towards society and my work has increased.”
The awards for best male and female playback singer went to celebrated singer Runa Laila for the film Tumi Asbe Bole and Palash for the film Khodar Pore Maa.
Composer Milton Khandaker and lyricist Emon Saha have won awards for their works in Khodar Pore Maa and Pita.
