Kishoreganj police handed over the of the Sonali Bank burglary case to elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Thursday, in line with a High Court order.
Kishoreganj Sadar police Officer-in-Charge Abdul Malek, also the investigation officer of this case, said the lawsuit was handed over to Mymensingh RAB 14 Assistant Director Rajib Kumar Deb.
Meanwhile, Yusuf Munshi and his brother Idris Munshi were sent to jail after completion of their seven-day remand, the OC said. Sonali Bank employee Abu Bakkar Siddique was also sent to jail after completion of three-day remand.
Yusuf and Idris looted Tk16.4 crore from a Sonali Bank branch in Kishoreganj and were later held with a major portion of the money. Yusuf's wife was later held with more of the stolen money.
Recently, a High Court bench ordered the transfer of the case in regard to this incident to RAB.
