AL leader found dead in Lakshmipur

A local Awami League leader has been found dead at Noldogi village in Kushakhali union in Lakshmipur district on Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Muhammad Ullah, 38, son of Nurul Islam of Noldogi village. He was the joint general secretary of Awami League’s Kushakhali union unit and a member of union ward 7.

Police sources said Ullah went out of the house after getting a call on his phone around 10pm on Wednesday.

Later, police recovered from body near a canal at Noldogi village around 9am and sent it to the morgue for autopsy.

Lakshmipur sadar police station Officer-in-charge Md Iqbal Hossain said miscreants might have hacked him to death.

Meanwhile, Lakshmipur Police Super Foyez Alam visited the spot and gave instructions to the authorities concern to arrest the culprits behind the incident.

Deceased’s brother Jamal said the rivals have murdered Ullah for raising voice against injustice and regarding a land dispute. 

On the other hand, Awami League supporters have vandalised, robbed and torched the residence of local BNP Leader Hymaun and his brother union Swechhasebok Dal Convener Jamal Uddin centring the murder.
