Detective police detained the chief of Jamaat-e-Islami in Cox's Bazar on Wednesday afternoon.
Abu Taher Chowdhury, 45, was nabbed from the town's Holiday intersection around 12:30pm, Cox's Bazar detective police Officer-in-Charge Manzur Alam said.
He has been detained over plots to anarchy ahead of Thursday's Jamaat hartal and involvement in previous sabotage-related activities, he said.
