The rescue work of a trawler capsize in the Surma river was called off on Wednesday morning. The trawler caught fire and sank two days ago with over a 100 people on board.
There are no more claims of any missing persons and rescue work was fruitless, Sylhet Fire Service and Civil Defense Senior Station Officer Jabed Hossain said.
Fire service and Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority suspended rescue work at 9:40am, Sunamganj police Superintendent Harun-ur Rashid told the Dhaka Tribune.
The death toll remains at 11, fire service officer Jabed Hossain said. He asked concerned persons to contact the authorities for claims of any people missing.
The trawler caught fire from a stove on Monday night in Sunamganj upazila, Sylhet, and sank. Most of the people swam ashore, while 11 dead bodies were recovered.
