Three persons have been killed as a boat capsized after its engine caught fire in Surma river of Chatak Upazila on Monday evening.
Of the deceased, one was identified as Rokeya, 30.
Officer-in-Charge of Chatak police station Shahjalal Munshi confirmed the deaths to the Dhaka Tribune.
Meanwhile, 40 others have been injured when they jumped into the river to save themselves from the fire, Superintendent of Sunamganj Harunur Rashid told the Dhaka Tribune.
Two other deceased could not be identified as they have been burnt completely, said the SP.
