The exhibition featuring the private collections of art collector Dorjoy Rahman Joy has been extended for another week, the artist told the Dhaka Tribune.
Ways of Seeing that is on at the Bengal Art Lounge in Gulshan was supposed to end today.
“Since the exhibition got huge response, the gallery asked me to extend the exhibition,” he said. The collection focuses on the artworks of many eminent painters from Bangladesh and is dedicated to the memory of late artist Aminul Islam, several of whose early works are on display at the exhibition.
Many artworks done by prominent painters are being displayed publicly for the first time.
Talking with the Dhaka Tribune, Durjoy Rahman Joy said that his personal collection also includes the artworks of Indian great masters and Western contemporary artists.
“I have over 800 works of art in my private gallery in Baridhara. Here, 42 of those are being displayed.”He added: “I have personally spent a lot of time with the artists and saw them creating the paintings.”
