One stabbed to death in Chittagong

An alleged drug peddler has been stabbed to death in Khulshi area of the port city. Police recovered the body of Selim alias Mod (liquor) Selim from a residential area on Sunday morning.

Selim was a liquor peddler and police suspected that his rivals might stab him to death over their illegal business feud, said Mainul Islam Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Khulshi police station.

Shah Mohammad Abdur Rouf, assistant commissioner of Panchlaish circle in Chittagong Metropolitan Police, told the Dhaka Tribune that police recovered the body from a side of a street at VIP Residential Area under Khulshi police station in the city at around 9:30am after receiving information from the locals.

The body has some signs of stabs while it was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

“We are looking into the matter while none was nabbed in this connection till filing of this report at 11am,” he said.

No case was filed at the time of dispatching the report.
